1. Little Switzerland (Shvitzarya HaKtana) — Mount Carmel National Park
The easy classic — a wooded valley loop with a viewpoint, under two hours.
Little Switzerland is the best-known walk on the Carmel, a short circular route through a densely wooded valley that earned its name from the improbable greenness of the place by Israeli standards.
The loop is manageable for most people and for families, with a viewpoint over the valley and forest that is genuinely lovely in winter and spring when everything is green.
It is the obvious introduction to the Carmel and the right choice if you have half a day rather than a full one.
Good to know: The best of the Carmel walks for families — and manageable in an afternoon.
